Kick-off of the
Candela Foundation

Initiative

Beginning

The Candela Foundation was established on 25 February 2021 as a result of a crowdfunding campaign initiated by Michał Karpiński, Mihai Suster, Piotr Węgrzyn and Adam Widomski – alumni, staff members and PhD students of the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw, who met while working in the Student Associations of Optics and Photonics at the University of Warsaw, which has been supporting students and PhD students since 2010. The motivation to establish the foundation was the desire to use the experience gained and expand the scope of activities. People who have been actively working for the development of optics and photonics in Poland have been invited to cooperate. The first talks concerning the establishment of a new foundation took place in January 2020, and the work on creating a formula for the new organization began just over six months later in August 2020.

Calendar
