Anna Pawlus is the Managing Director of the International Centre for Translational Eye Research funded by the Foundation for Polish Science and the Vice-President of the Board of the NiePrzeOcz Foundation. Since 2016, she has been associated with the optics and photonics community, starting her adventure as coordinator of a research group at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where she managed, among other things, grants financed by the FNP, the NCN and the European Commission and organized scientific events.

Anna obtained a Master’s degree in engineering from the Faculty of Information Technology and Management at the Wrocław University of Technology and completed the Magellan MBA programme at Porto Business School. She gained her professional experience, among others, in the Office of International Cooperation at the University of Porto and IBM Global Delivery Centre in Wrocław.

In 2011, she took part in a project organised by the American non-profit organisation TechnoServe in Africa (Mozambique), where she worked in the area of social entrepreneurship. Before joining the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, she worked as a consultant in Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação in Portugal, where she managed international projects and worked on applications to Horizon 2020 and ERASMUS+. 

Anna volunteers in the field of gender equality, multiculturalism and further training for older people. She also actively participates in science outreach activitiies and shaping and improving communication channels for scientific institutions.

In Candela Foundation, Anna serves as a member of the Foundation Council, where she brings her experience in creating scientific units, organising conferences, recruiting employees and identifying new areas of activity.
