Experiments and/or numerical modelling for quantum temporal optics
You will work in a modern quantum optical laboratory, where we study the encoding of quantum information in the time-frequency degree of freedom of light. We work with pulsed fs and ps lasers, photon-pair sources, single-photon detectors, single-photon spectrometers, free-space, and fiber optics. Within the internship you may construct a new part of our experimental apparatus or add new functionality to an existing one – for example: build or modify an entangled photon pair source, an automated delay line, an interferometer, a tunable spectrum filter, a fiber examining bench. We also offer projects based on numerical simulation of quantum or nonlinear optical phenomena. You could also work on a set of 3D printed optomechanical elements and characterize their performance with the goal of lowering the access threshold to the experimental optics for students from developing countries. The result of your work will most likely be incorporated into one of our research projects.
